Dongsheng Flashing Tape

Dongsheng flashing tape is made from polypropylene film with a bitumen adhesive backing.

Dongsheng flashing tape helps protect the heads and jambs of rectangular doors and windows from air and water intrusion.

Wind-driven rain and outdoor air can find their way into walls around windows and doors. By helping to seal the building envelope, self-adhered Dongsheng flashing tape can help reduce the risk of water damage, increase building comfort, and improve energy efficiency.

Where to use

Before the availability of sheet products for flashing carpenters used creative methods to minimize water penetration such as angling roof shingles away from the joint, placing chimneys at the ridge, and building steps into the sides of chimneys to throw off water. The introduction of manufactured flashing decreased water penetration at obstacles such as chimneys, vent pipes, walls which abut roofs, window and door openings, etc. thus making buildings more durable and reducing indoor mold problems. In builders books, by 1832 Loudons An Encyclop dia of Cottage, Farm, and Villa Architecture and Furniture... gives instruction on installing lead flashing and 1875 Notes on Building Construction gives detailed instruction and is well illustrated with methods still used today.

How it Works

It is engineered to withstand the rigors of the job site, including UV exposure, for up to 120 days. In addition to bulk water holdout, Dongsheng flashing tape helps control air leakage, where windows and doors interface with sheathing or the weather barrier. As part of a complete building envelope system, this can help keep heated and cooled air in, and exterior air out, more effectively, for improved comfort and energy efficiency.
